Reimagine reality this fall at HackGT 7! This year, we’ll be welcoming 2,500 participants from all over to win bigger prizes, learn new things, and create new worlds. Our first ever virtual event will redefine what it means to have an incredible hacker experience—and we hope you’ll join us on this great adventure!
Hackathons are 36-hour events where students from across the country come together for a weekend to create anything that shows off their creativity and passion for development. You may choose any platform, programming language, or format to show how you re-imagine solutions.
HackGT 7 will take place ~ virtually ~ on October 16-18, 2020.
Any student over the age of 18 enrolled in a U.S. college or university is allowed to participate. Teams can be up to four members to be eligible for prizes - you can register with your team when you apply, any time after you're accepted, or create a team at the event! If you are younger than 18, but a Georgia Tech student, you can still participate.
This year, we'll be able to accommodate 2,500 participants! In the past we've been limited due to building capacity and travel reimbursement budgets, so this year we'll be able to welcome more students from universities all over the country!
Admission to HackGT 7 is completely free and includes enhanced mentorship, mini events, sponsor challenges, prizes, and more!

While we won't all be able to hack away in Klaus Advanced Computing Building this year, we'll still get to have all things that make hackathons great. This means the opportunity to network with sponsors, attend mini events, learn from a large range of workshops, and compete for prizes! Plus, with moving to an online format, we'll be allocating our resources to things such as a larger prizes and an enhanced mentor experience. Don't miss out!
Due to recent health concerns surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19), HackGT has made the decision to move all our fall events to an online format for the health and safety of our participants, partners, and team members.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide hardware this year. If you have access to hardware and would like to use it in your project, hardware submissions are more than welcome! If not, we'll be offering lots of other online resources and can't wait to see what you come up with!
Even though we're virtual, you'll still be able to receive swag! If you live in the U.S. we'll be shipping swag right to your doorstep free of charge, and we can't wait for you to see what we have in store 😉
A computer at home, and an internet connection! We'll send out more information closer to the event with any additional software you will need to download to participate in the event.
Registration opens on July 27th! Sign up for our newsletter and updates at 2020.hack.gt so we can email you once registration opens.
Yes! It will be held on Saturday, September 19 with more details to come soon!
